There are some side effects, but from what I experienced, they were only temporary, as my eyes were healing from the correction. If you're concerned about side effects from your lasik vision surgery, discuss them with your doctor beforehand. With my surgery, I experienced starbursts at night – lights became larger and star-shaped, making it more difficult to drive. But this went away after a couple of months, and I didn't find it inhibited my ability to drive, it simply made me a little more cautious.
Another side effect of lasik vision correction that I experienced was an increase in sensitivity to light. However, according to my opthamologist, this could have been caused by my needing to wear sunglasses while my eyes were healing from the surgery. The increased sunglasses wear increased my eyes sensitivity to light—not the surgery. Regardless, it is an after-effect for me that was well worth it, in my opinion.
